Discuss the moments from the video that really make it obvious that this is a parody.
Think of at least three examples from the film to share as a group. You will report back to the class in 3 minutes.

Introduction


The goal of this project is to produce a 30 sec-1 minute parody of Star Wars which. This can take the form of an advertisement or focus on a particular scene in the movie. The challenge of this exercise is to select an existing scene or advertisement and create a parody of it.


The assessment of this project will be made on how effective, creative, funny and ingenious your video is, how you use video and sound to make your point and how you work within your group.

Here is the Rubric. Please make sure you refer back to it as you monitor your group's progress.

Types of Advertisement


Consider what scene would be fun to parody. Think about the target audience and the ways in which your parody could really capture the imagination and make people laugh!

Take into considerations the culture and audience which the parody is aimed at.

In your groups, consider how you could create a parody for Star Wars. Make sure that it has appropriate content, and that you follow the rubric closely!

When using media for your project you would normally choose images and videos that are licensed for reuse.

However, as this is a parody, you may use copyrighted video clips and images.

Modifying and Remixing images!

You may want to modify certain images and remix them with others to create your own media.

An easy way to do this is by using Power Point.

Drag your images onto your PPT slide and remove the backgrounds where needed by using your mouse to select the areas you would like to keep.

Storyboard


You will need to storyboard the scenes to avoid confusion while recording the parody. It's a good idea to make the storyboard very clear, include all the dialogue in it, as well as the music which will plat through. This way you are not guessing anything during production time.

Here is the storyboard you will use for the project.

Over the next few weeks you will work on producing your parody. It should be no longer than 1.5 minutes, be appropriate, humourous, it can parody an actual Star Wars advertisement, as well as any of the Star Wars Films.
